'Bauerkeller's new embossed map of London, 1841.'
Comments on map:
The 'embossed' effect is the raising in relief of the buildings. Wholly colour-printed, with street-names and other 'ordinary' text in blue. Highly photogenic. Scale is about 5.8 ins to 1 mile, with inset of Isle of Dogs, c.1:27,000, top right. Note on population, top left. Typgraphy looks 'foreign', e.g. open figure 4, and some misspelling, e.g. 'Marybonne'. Accompanying street-index is printed by Richard Watts, Crown Court, Temple Bar.
