Comments on map:
Recorded from photograph, assumed to be at same scale. Top left are notes on the Ouse Bridge and river navigation: bottom right are notes of distances of wall between gates. These and the various defence-related features noted, such as the castle glacis, suggest that the map was prepared for military purposes. [With this are photos of a plan of the Kings Mannor [no.9] and two of the case [nos 10 & 11], also by Richards.]
