Comments on map:
Note of population, water supply and fire-fighting equipment on graphic index sheet at 1:2400, which covers a larger area than the detailed plans. Letterpress index to streets and 'specials', i.e. commercial premises, public buildings, etc. Surveyed December 1887 and January 1888. This survey was effectively replaced in May 1896 by another (BLML Maps 145.b.21(2)) on different sheet lines and with much extended cover, surveyed March to May 1896, with 1:4800 index; there was a further extension of cover, on 6 sheets, dated May 1905.
