[Title sheet:] 'Plan of the Borough of Bradford comprising the Townships of Bradford, Manningham, Horton & Bowling from a trigonometrical survey made in the years 1853, 1854, 1855 by Thomas Dixon and William Ellison, land surveyors &c, Bradford'.
Comments on map:
Scale 1:360. Theoretically in 125 sheets, plus index and title, but in practice sheets 66-99 are wholly missing, and there are later revised version with 'a' suffixes. Also, fragments are missing from the extant sheets. Because of the size of the map and its storage, sheets have only been examined selectively, for the north-central part of the town. [The following is from the BBD class-list. The plans were surveyed in 1853-55. In 1876-78 revised versions of sheets 15, 38, 42, 44-6, 54-6, 60, 61 and 65 were prepared: they are numbered e.g. '61a'. Missing sheets: 22, 61-99. The map is complemented by 58 sheets of vertical sections, BBD 9/1/29/126-182, at 1 inch to 10 ft horizontal (1:120), and 1 inch to 30 ft (1:360) vertical. BBD 9/1/29/183 is the title sheet, which also includes the legend. BBD 9/1/29/184 is the title for the vertical sections, dated 1855; BBD 9/1/29/185 is an index to the plans added to a plan of the borough, with the 1876-8 sheets shaded pink.]
