Comments on map:
In Paterson's Guide Book to England and Wales... 1886, Edinburgh, William Paterson, n.d., f.p. 78; preface is dated June 1885, BM receipt 25 Ja 88 blue. The maps appear to have been produced especially for this volume, and lack any 'responsibility statements': small-scale maps in the volume, and the map of London at the end, are by Bartholomew, but these town plans look nothing like Bartholomew work. [Is it significant that the book itself does not appear to name a printer of the letterpress?]
