Surveyed by Lucas in 1835-6. Town centre shown as stipple, unnumbered, with some buildings; unlike Exeter 16106, this does not suggest gardens. Book of reference at 2065/40 ('in box'), where it is described as 'A Terrier and Admeasurement of the Parish of Melksham Wilts as surveyed by George Oakley Lucas by Order of the Inhabitants in Vestry assembled in the years 1835-6. ...' Columns: No. on Plan; Tithing; Description; Stock [Arable, Pasture, etc]; Quantity; Annual Value; Tithes; Remarks. Proprietors and Occupiers written across the page, without separate column. At the end is a reference to 'Town Plan', of which a printed version is described at Exeter 16107.
