Comments on map:
Notionally in 275 sheets, but 9/16 and 246/263 are combined, 1-8, 42, 70, 71, 84-7, 100-104, 115-9, 132-6, 152-7, 173-180, 195-202, 215-222, 231-240, 249-59, 262 and 265-74 are wholly absent, and there is a supplementary volume (6 sheets plus two blanks, no watermarks), with neat annotations thereto on the main maps. Apparently no official index. Legible watermarks are J. Whatman 1855. (Numbering begins at 366/1 for Sheet 9/16, Sheet 10 is /2, etc, and 'gap' sheets are not numbered.) Well penned, but pretty stark compared with e.g. Warwick [Exeter 17007], though colourful enough. [Sheet 46 absent on 13:7:95.] On the higher-numbered sheets some areas of buildings without infill: this approaches 50% on Sheet 209, presumably representing later additions. (Are the sewers later, too?) The southern sheets are mostly 'posh' suburban villa country in and around Edgbaston. [The supplementary sheets evidently represent later revision, and aren't all contemporary: cf that to 126.]
