Comments on map:
Dated '? 1880s' in list: extent of building development is similar to that on Ordnance Survey 1:10,560 1st edition, and cf Exeter 18196: it is difficult to believe that anything after c.1883-84 would have used other than Ordnance Survey 1:500, though possibly derivation is from the Laing map of 1855 [Exeter 22569]. Author by inference from Gorleston map [Exeter 18196]. Sheet numbers run SE to NW, with A and B sheets added on south; sheets 1-18, 20-21: 19 was evidently the title sheet, not represented in this copy. (No reference or index sheets.) Utility sans-serif stencil lettering for street and other larger names.
