'Map of the estates of the Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses of the borough of Great Yarmouth, made in the year 1861, by Alfred William Morant, Surveyor to the said Mayor, Aldermen, & Burgesses.'
Comments on map:
Y/TC 41/2 appears to be the 'original' set of 20 maps, based on the Laing survey [Exeter 22569], with part at 1:528 and part at 1:2640, and with annotations up to at least 1877. Y/TC 41/2/3 is a Reference, with columns for variously Newton's map of 1826, Hilling's map, and Tillett's map (these are the transcripts of 1842, etc, at end of Y/TC 41/2), name of occupier, etc, description, freehold, leasehold, and remarks including how rents payable; latter part of this and whole of Y/TC 41/4, which is called 'Vol. II' only have numbers for the Morant survey. Y/TC 41/1 is a less finished copy, with some additional maps, of Y/TC 41/2. Compared with Laing, this set of maps is comparatively uniformative for the general user, with much of the built-up area not mapped in detail.
