Comments on map:
Plates XXV, XXVI, XXVII, following pp 224, 226, 227 in Vol XXVI of Archaeologia, here in an offprint version as George Saunders, F.R.S., F.S.A., Results of an inquiry concerning the situation and extent of Westminster at various periods, London: J.B. Nichols & Son, 1835, 4to, 21 pp. The map is in three versions, all evidently from the same plate, which was presumably adapted either by re-engraving after the previous batch had been printed, or else by double-printing: first map (Plate XXV) shows the extent according to King Edgar's charter of 951, the second (Plate XXVI) according to the Decretal of 1222, and the third (Plate XXVII) the extent of Westminster as defined in Letters Patent of 3 August 1604, which is the present extent [1835].
