Comments on map:
Strictly speaking, a set of five, overlapping, but BLML does not have South London, which has been recorded from a private collection copy. Scale is same as the Black map of c.1870 [Exeter 19575]. A virtuosic demonstration of the advantages of omitting building infill, and so able to name and describe city churches and other buildings without congestion. North London is 'Plan and guide...' on cover, though guide missing or never there on BLML copy. London is also 'Plan and guide...' and retains the letterpress 'Visitors' guide to London' (8 pp) and street index (28pp). [The Bartholomew Printing Record [in National Library of Scotland, Map Library], records that 2020 copies of the North London map were printed on 8 September 1892, and 5300 copies of an atlas version were printed on 4 May 1892.]
