Comments on map:
A very close copy of the Henry Austin map [Exeter 19272], but without the numerous references in the Mersey: instead, they are are in a separate letterpress section ('Hilliar's guide for strangers and visitors through Liverpool') at the bottom of the map, using squares numbered in red. The imitation includes mapping the Cheshire part at 1:18,000. Table of distances in miles and yards, e.g. 18 miles to Runcorn, 9 miles 900 yards to Hoylake. Note on population in 1841 and 1851 to right of title, top left: notes on population of old borough 1801-21-31-41 to left of arms/vignette, top right.
