Recorded from data supplied by Stornoway Public Library. At bottom is a note 'This Plan is a copy of one made in 1840 by Mr David Miller assistant to Messrs. Gordon and Will Civil Engineers Glasgow': Stornoway Library advises that, despite the date, there are later additions, e.g. the Nicholson Institute (1870s) and a proposed road which became Goathill Crescent (end of 19th century). The style of drawing looks more akin to late 19th century than earlier.
