Comments on map:
'For Colbran's Tunbridge Wells Guide', bottom centre. Scales in perches. This perhaps derives from the Barrow map of 1808 [Exeter 21025], as the area of cover and some text are rather similar. Dated c.1850 in BLML 1967 catalogue, but is perhaps 1852 or later, as includes the railway on to Hastings: this breaks the border at the top, and is pretty obviously a later addition to the plate, as are quite a number of names and buildings, which are 'darker'. Letterpress list of 'Pleasant rides and drives' inside cover, faced on map back by 'Index to the places of public worship', with times of services and incumbents, etc.
