Comments on map:
Dated 1890 in BLML 1967 catalogue, but it is noticeable that it omits the Southsea branch, so 1885 may be better [cf also its use in directories before 1890]. Map seems to be fairly straightforward good-quality near-transcription from Ordnance Survey (with addition of dockyard detail): excellent for Bacon. Top right is inset 'Environs of Portsmouth', 1:190,080, from a county map, with broken names not made good.
