Comments on map:
Bristol Archives dates the map 1874, but in fact it is 1855, 'Corrected to 1874', this last being in darker ink; paper is J. Whatman 1854. A peculiarity is that where there is no detail on the map face, the adjoining sheet numbers are inside the run of the neatline, which bends inward in a semi-circle. Buildings added after 1855 can sometimes be identified by the lack of house numbers or names and basement levels. There are 105 ordinary sheets plus three 'A' sheets.
