Comments on map:
This seems to be a late state of John Rocque's 1:4752 map of 1750. Faces title page of William Barrett, The history and antiquities of the city of Bristol, Bristol & London: William Pine, etc, n.d.: TNA [PRO] say 1789, but date, apparently '1750' and note about publication in Wine St have been erased to right of existing one. Scales of feet, furlongs and toises: no title. Characteristic Rocque building-infill by stipple. 'New Road 1768', and several streets laid out over old detail.
