Johnston, Edinburgh & London. 1891.'; [1890.c:] [cover:] 'Johnston's plan of Edinburgh', [map:] 'W. & A.K. Johnston's plan of Edinburgh.'
Comments on map:
Entry based on two versions, EMS.b.2.71, dated 1891, and with the more extended cover, and EMS.b.2.82, dated c.1890 by NLS, with more limited cover, and hand-coloured water, roads, railways, public buildings and open spaces. The contours and road-shading in particular are symptomatic of Ordnance Survey derivation; building shapes more plausible than on the 1861 map [Exeter 21763].
