Comments on map:
Precedes title page of P.J. Jackson & Co.'s Postal Address Directory of the City of Carlisle, (with map specially prepared,) including the principal towns and adjacent villages of Cumberland and Westmorland, with maps specially prepared, corrected to 1880, Newcastle-upon-Tyne: P.J. Jackson & Co., n.d. [preface is dated June 1880]. Facing page 1 is 'P.J. Jackson's postal address directory map' of Cumberland and Westmorland, with water and counties colour-printed (good quality): looks like Philip material. The Royal Agricultural Society's annual show was to be held at Carlisle on July 12-16 1880 (cf Jackson, p.vi), and this may have been the occasion of producing both directories with their associated maps, Exeter 19898 and 19899.
