Comments on map:
May be derived from Exeter 19275: there is similarity of industrial information, e.g. Presented with the Liverpool Standard, 8 October 1844. Made up from standard type, rules and ornaments (tho' I don't quite see how they get some of the curves). Emphasis is on lines and text: area-fill is of neccesity largely omitted, though a 'bushy' effect is managed in Hamilton Square. Annotations include 'New Park, laid out in Serpentine Walks, with Shrubbery, &c.' This is one of a small spate of such things represented in this volume: at fol.29 is 'Plan of the Liverpool Docks', also apparently typographic (but not acknowledged as such), presented with the Liverpool Standard of 17 September 1844, with some printing in red, and [Birkenhead] fol.2 is 'Liverpool and Birkenhead Docks.', presented with the Liverpool Mercury of 25 October 1844, but this time drawn and engraved by Jos. A.D. Watts of Liverpool. At fol.6 is 'Proposed plan for the improvement of Wallasey Pool', n.d., presumably later 1840s, 'Presented with the Liverpool Mail', n.d. The typographic mapping anticipates early line-printer computer mapping by nearly 120 years in its general approach.
