Comments on map:
Recorded from much reduced photograph: provenance uncertain. Does not appear to be the same as either the enclosure map of ?1840 [Exeter 14401] or the tithe map of 1841 [Exeter 00397], both of which are at 1:4752 by Alexander Watford, though stylistically this map might be his work. However, former open field areas do appear to be differentiated. It does not help that this map lacks a scale, but the degree of reduction suggests that even a fourfold reduction might be inadequate to compensate: the scale of the photo is about 1:20,000.
