Comments on map:
In Charles Henry Cooper, Memorials of Cambridge, Cambridge: Metcalfe, 1866, III, at end. Treatment of road to railway station suggests that this is from a pre-railway plate: the first edition of the work was published in 1842. Scale is shown both by a scale bar and by statement 'Scale = 1/144000 actual area', which is 1:120. Scale is about 1 inch to 333 yards: was 1:12,500 intended? Or 1:12,000?
Scale:
1:12,500
