noticeably generalised, public buildings emphasised: Outlines of buildings in densely-built-up part, but whole 'blocks' are hatched: a curious effect, as though there was a sudden rush to complete before all the fine detail could be engraved. The result looks like a diluted version of the 'Lysons' map [Exeter 21174], though both no doubt derive from Custance [Exeter 20688].
