[Preface uses word 'cartography': 'The series of town plans has also been thoroughly revised to present date by local officials.' [sic].] [Guide-book origins suggested by density of hotels.] The Bartholomew Printing Record [in National Library of Scotland, Map Library], records that 3400 copies of maps for Black's guide to Scotland were printed on 27 April 1892.]
