Comments on map:
In Richardson's descriptive companion through Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead..., Newcastle: M.A. Richardson, and London: Longman, 1838, f.p. 109. The Newcastle Central Library cards attribute the map to W. Collard, but there is nothing on it to support this. However, the frontispiece map, of ten miles round, is engraved by Collard, so the attribution seems reasonable. Reference to buildings has page numbers.
