Comments on map:
In The route book of Devon: a guide for the stanger and tourist, Exeter: Henry Besley, n.d. [includes railways on the Plymouth map, but not in pp 268-71]. It may be significant that no stations are shown on the railways, and that they do not appear to be quite as built. Unlike the Exeter map in this volume [Exeter 18731], scale seems to be correct.
